The neighborhood website that is "officially" sanctioned by the City, and linked to the City's website, is owned by other neighbors, who, though well-intentioned, never seem to get around to updating it. Someday, maybe they'll bring it up-to-date, but for now, they seem to just be cybersquatting on the domain to keep it in their name.
Our friendly local realtor Steve Reiser also hosts a neighborhood website and a blog. See his site if you want to buy or sell a home here. Steve has also started a blog for the discussion of topics related to the neighborhood.
My site is primarily concerned with issues related to preserving the character of our neighborhood. This site is neither City-sponsored, nor run as part of a business venture. I'm free to criticize the City, if they deserve it, without fear of getting de-sanctioned. And while my goal of preserving our neighborhood character often coincides with my realtor neighbor's interest in maximizing property values- that is not always strictly the case.
This is my perspective. Just as it may not always coincide with the perspectives presented on other neighborhood websites, neither does it necessarily represent the views of "the neighborhood". It's just me.
I've attempted to organize my discussion of neighborhood preservation into two subtopics. New Development Around Us is concerned with moderating the scale of development on our perimeters that could negatively impact our privacy and sense of place. Inside the Neighborhood is about quality of life issues and developing design standards to assure that remodels and teardowns remain true to our neighborhood's character. For those returning visitors, I try to update the Latest Postings page with links to my most recent additions to the website.
